Mr ABBOTT (New England) . - The Joint Coal Board is to have power to establish workers' compensation insurance schemes, and to .require any employer in the coal industry in the State to effect with or through it all workers' compensation insurance in respect of his employees in that industry. I should like the Minister to state whether the proposal is to scrap the existing Workers' Compensation Court in New South Wales, and to set up entirely new machinery for the hearing of claims for compensation. Will a new court investigate claims that are resisted, or will the matter be inquired into by the board, without the appearance of counsel and the observance of the rules of evidence?
