Mr WILLIAMS (ROBERTSON, NEW SOUTH WALES) - Can the Minister representing the Minister for Customs say whether it is true that American magazines, previously banned in Australia because of the undue emphasis which they placed on sex, are now being printed in Australia by a Sydney firm under licence? Is it true that an American magazine, previously banned in Australia because of the undue emphasis which it placed on crime, may shortly be printed under licence in Sydney? Does the Minister believe that the distribution of these magazines serves any more useful or justifiable purpose when they are printed in Australia than they did when imported direct from the United States of America-, and is the reprinting of them here by overworked Australian printers and printing firms believed to be desirable when the publication of children's text books and Australian creative works are being held up because of a shortage of printers and binders?
