Senator LEMMON (FORREST, WESTERN AUSTRALIA) - The proposed commission would not effect the desired purpose. The endeavour must be to relate the main cost items to a prices index, similar to the index used in the calculation of the basic wage. If that can be done, a happy medium will be struck. . But, regardless of what basis may be fixed, many farmers will he unable to make a profit, whilst others will make a good living.


Mr Archie Cameron - That is true of every industry.
