Mr CALWELL - I have read a statement to the effect that the Minister for Public Works in Victoria said that he would not allow the by-law of the Prahan City 'Council to be varied so as to enable " Yarrein " to be used as a laboratory for the processing of certain films. I have received no official advice from the Minister, but I shall see him to-night at a meeting of the central committee of the Australian Labour party, of which we both are distinguished members, and I have no doubt that everything can be arranged satisfactorily. I am disinclined to believe' what I have read in the newspapers; but in any case, I can still fall back on the National Security Act, if necessary, in order to give effect to the desire of the Government that the Department of Information shall be suitably housed in the premises we have taken on the advice of Mr. Westhoven, the officer appointed by the Department of the Interior, to advise on office accommodation for Commonwealth departments in capital cities.
