Mr CHIFLEY - The working of coal measures in Queensland has been investigated by the Secondary Industries Commission, two members of which recently visited Queensland and had discussions with the Premier about the utilization of the deposits for local consumption or export. I understand that the proposal would involve the expenditure of a fairly considerable sum of money, because it would entail the construction of a railway line, better transport facilities, and, perhaps, loading equipment for ships. A proposal in regard to the utilization of the deposits will soon come up for consideration by the Government. I can give the honorable member no exact details at the moment.
