Mr SPEAKER (Hon J S Rosevear (DALLEY, NEW SOUTH WALES) - Such an offer was made, originally, I. think, through the Prime Minister's Department to the presiding officers of this Parliament. "We were aware of the historic value of the stone, and the patriotic gesture that Mr. Crowle was making; but we considered that, in view of the fact that some relics had already been received by this

Parliament during a previous reconstruction of the House of Commons, the whole matter ought to be placed 'before the Joint House Committee. With that end in view, the Joint House Committee will meet, probably within the next fortnight, and decide whether to accept thestone, or suggest some other place where it could be preserved as a historic relic.
