Mr Abbott t asked the Minister for Works and Housing, upon notice -

1.   When was the Housing Commission appointed?

2.   What is its present staff?

3.   What is the total amountpaid to members of the commission since its inception?

4.   What has been paid in travelling and/or other allowances?

5.   What has been paid in salaries and wages in the staff associated with the commission?

6.   What is the total cost of the commission to the latest available date?


Mr Lazzarini - The Minister for Post-war Reconstruction (Mr. Dedman). under whose jurisdiction the Commonwealth Housing Commission functioned, has supplied the following answers : -

1.   19th April, 1943.

2.   Nil. The commission was wound up on the 8th September, 1945, after completing its final report. 3 and 4. The honorable member will find those matters dealt with as fully as possible in Hansard of the1 3th March, 1946, in the answer given by the Minister for Post-war Reconstruction to a similar question asked by the honorable member for Wide Bay (Mr. Corser).


Mr Adermann (MARANOA, QUEENSLAND) n asked the Minister for Works and Housing, upon notice -

1.   Is it a fact that the Commonwealth loan estimates for the last financial year provided . £12,000,000 for housing under the CommonwealthStates housing agreement?

2.   If so, willhe inform the House of the amount allocated for expenditure in each State?

3.   What was the actual amount expended in (a) the first half of the financial year and (b) the full financial year?


Mr Lazzarini - The answers to the honorable member's questions are as follows : -

1.   The Commonwealth loan programme provided £12,240,000 for housing under the Commonwealth and State Housing Agreement.

2.   The provision for each State was as follows: -
