Mr ARCHIE CAMERON (BARKER, SOUTH AUSTRALIA) (Postmaster-General) - It has been reported in the press, both here and overseas, that the Government of the United. States has asked that foreign purchasing commissions in America be wound up. Can the Prime Minister say whether the Australian Purchasing Commission is being wound up, and, if so, what arrangements does the Government propose to make to look after trade arrangements formerly controlled by the commission?

Mr CHIFLEY - I shall have a statement prepared setting out the exact position . regarding the Australian Purchasing Commission in America, the work which it performed during the war, and particulars of the request made by the Government of the United States.
