Mr HOLT (Fawkner) .- Recently I drew the attention of the Treasurer to the fact that complaints have been received from various parts of the Commonwealth as the result of the action of municipalities in increasing rates, at a time when rents from propertieswere fixed by national security regulations . The Treasurer said that there would be some difficulty in taking Commonwealth action to limit municipal valuations, even though the effect of the increases might be to deprive the Commonwealth Treasury of a certain amount of income. However, he said that he would investigate the matter, and I now ask him whether he has had an opportunity to do so, and if so, whether he has any statement to make.
