Mr CURTIN (FREMANTLE, WESTERN AUSTRALIA) (Prime Minister) - Many persons who left the coal-mining industry were transferred to other industries that are now of equal importance with coal-mining in the war effort.


Mr JAMES - 'They are only doing labouring work. ,


Mr CURTIN - Those who are engaged in protected industries are under the control of the man-power authorities, and I am certain that, having regard to all of the circumstances, the decision that has been reached is the best possible.
