Mr MULCAHY (LANG, NEW SOUTH WALES) - Is the Minister for the Army aware that members of the armed forces charged with being absent without leave have been escorted to Central Railway Station, Sydney, handcuffed together like criminals? Will the honorable gentleman instruct that this practice shall be discontinued and that a different practice shall be adopted?

Mr FORDE - I was not aware of the state of affairs referred to by the honorable member, but I shall have inquiries made, and the honorable member's representations will be taken into consideration.
