Mr CHIFLEY (Macquarie) (Treasurer) (6:44 AM) . The Government does not propose to accept the amendment. It has complete confidence in the recommendation of the special committee. It believes that the committee which dealt with these matters weighed them from all of the aspects from which they have been considered in this debate. Even those honorable members who support the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. Fadden) are very confused about the subject, and I can only conclude from the silence of the honorable member for Barker (Mr. Archie Cameron) that he is not clear about it. The matter has been closely examined, and the basis was framed on that investigation, subject to our knowledge of the position. The Government will adhere to the proposals that have been outlined.

Mr. Fadden. Will the Treasurer assure me that child endowment has not been taken into account as an adjustment?

Mr. CHIFLEY.I believe that the honorable member for Robertson has explained that.
