Mr WARD - The sub-committee of Cabinet appointed to inquire into manpower matters decided that, in order to afford relief to primary industries, temporary exemption from military service shall be given to men engaged in the more important of those industries, including the three referred to by the honorable member. The release of an additional number of experienced men from the Army is a matter for the Minister for the Army. I have no control over that, but I am sure that my colleague will consider the matter carefully, and that whatever relief is possible will be granted.
