Mr COLLINS (HUME, NEW SOUTH WALES) - I ask the Deputy Prime Minister whether the Coal Commissioner, as the press of Monday and Tuesday has stated, has applied Statutory Rule No. 168 to the striking miners at Millfield-Greta ? If so, will the honorable gentleman explain the statement of the Minister for Labour and National Service, as reported in to-day's Sydney Morning Herald, that he had directed Mr. Connell to call a compulsory conference in an attempt to secure peace on the coal-fields before Statutory Rule No. 168 was applied?

Mr FORDE - I have not seen what has appeared in the newspapers, but J shall peruse them and reply to the honorable gentleman later.
