Mr JAMES (HUNTER, NEW SOUTH WALES) - From time to time I have brought to the notice of the Minister for Labour and National Service, by way of questions in the House and through correspondence with his department, the refusal of various industries to release men formerly engaged in coalmining to enable them to return to the coal-mining industry. At present, regulations forbid the transfer of those men from their present occupations. Is it a fact that the Coal Commissioner, Mr. Mighell, stated that he could find work for 400 miners? As approximately 1,000 former miners are held in other industries, what action does the Minister propose to take for the purpose of forcing them to release this labour?
