Mr STACEY (ADELAIDE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - I ask the Prime Minister whether it is a fact that recently young men called up for military service were sent to Port Moresby without receiving one day's training?

Mr FORDE - I am not aware that any soldiers were sent to Port Moresby with one day's training. Instructions were issued by the Chief of the General Staff to despatch immediately certain units to Port Moresby, and those units comprised men of all ages. They all were in need of more training, when they left. They have blended together very well, and have now become a very formidable force.
