Mr PROWSE (Forrest) .- I support the remarks of the honorable member for Lilley (Mr. Jolly). A taxpayer is entitled to the same consideration in respect of tax paid to a State as in respect of tax paid to the Commonwealth. In neither case is the money expended for the benefit of himself or his family; it becomes a part of the revenue of the Government. Tax paid to a State should be an allowable deduction, just as is tax paid to the Commonwealth. I regard the Treasurer's proposal as an interference with State rights.
