Mr BEASLEY - The Department of Supply and Development has followed the course of seeking advice of State departments in all matters connected with the search for flow oil, the development of shale, and the development of mineral resources generally. The honorable member is justified in considering that, sufficient technical examination should have been made by this time of shale deposits at Baerami. The trouble in this instance is the question of a decision between the Baerami interests and the Capital Issues Advisory Board. The Department of Supply and. Development has had something to do with that, matter. A deputation from the Baerami interests was in Canberra last week, and a discussion between the three parties took place. I expected thorn to arrive at a final decision, but I am. afraid that they did not. I repeat that the honorable member is justified in considering that this matter should be short-circuited and. an early decision made.
