Mr SPEAKER - The honorable member will realize that he must vouch for the accuracy of a statement in any newspaper before reading it in the House.

Mr CONELAN - It is a reputable newspaper.

Mr SPEAKER - The honorable member must vouch for the accuracy of a statement that he quotes from a newspaper.

Mr CONELAN - I vouch for it. The statement is as follows: - " Business as usual " was urged by the Prime Minister, who almost at the same time communicated with the financial institutions of Australia and the big insurance companies and instructed them that only a limited amount of finance must be made available to the semi-governmental bodies. There could be only one result: retrenchment of a large number of employees throughout Australia and dislocation of the " Businessas usual " slogan.
