Mr JOHN LAWSON (MACQUARIE, NEW SOUTH WALES) - My latest information on the subject is that, whereas the requirement of the Australian market in felt hats is 87,000 dozen, the orders on hand from Italy total only 80 dozen. Furthermore, the retail price of the Italian hats in question range from 35s. to £2 2s. each. Information in the possession of the department does not indicate that a charge of dumping of these hats would be sustained. However, I shall make further inquiries into the matter.
