Mr SCULLY (GWYDIR, NEW SOUTH WALES) - Has the attention of the Minister for Trade and Customs been drawn to a report of proceedings at the annual meeting of the Federal Tobacco Advisory Committee, held recently at Atherton, in which it is stated that a resolution was adopted drawing attention to the alarming increase of imports of tobacco leaf from 11,000,000 lb. in 1933-34 to 23,000,000 lb. in 1937-38? Will the Minister give immediate consideration to this development in conjunction with the recommendation adopted at the last meeting of the Federal Tobacco Advisory Committee, held in Perth, that greater protection should be afforded the industry through a substantial increase of import duty and a reduction of excise duty?
