Mr Green n asked the Minister representing the Minister for the Interior, upon notice -

When will the investigations into the volume of the iron ore deposits at(a) Yampi Sound, Western Australia; (b) Whyalla, South Australia; and in (c) Tasmania, be completed in each ease?

Mr Perkins - The Minister for the Interior has supplied the following answer: -

(a)   The investigations will not be completed for several months. At the conclusion of the inspection now being made by the Commonwealth Geological Adviser, I expect to be in a position to advise more definitely. (b) The Geological Survey of South Australia, on its own initiative, undertook an exhaustive survey, which is still in progress. I have no information as to when this survey will be completed. (c) The investigations in Tasmania should be completed within the next few months.
