Mr RANKIN (BENDIGO, VICTORIA) - Oan the Minister for Defence inform me whether it is a fact that Mr. Hanlon, Secretary for Health and Home Affairs in the Government of Queensland, has caused considerable concern among the people of . that State by a sensational charge that the Commonwealth Government proposes to abandon the north and destroy all. property there in the event of an invasion of Australia? Is there any foundation for such an extraordinary allegation? Is this Mr. Hanlon the same gentleman who, in March, 1936, advocated the return of New Guinea to Germany?
