Mr CASEY - In this connexion the attention of the Government has been confined to the distillation of molasses because it was advised that that was the most economical material from which to obtain power alcohol. The distillation of grain of any sort, or of many other crops, in order to produce power alcohol is not an economical process from the point of view of the growers because the cost of power alcohol distilled from wheat is high, even should the grain cost only ls. a bushel.

Mr McHugh - There are by-products which can be disposed of.

Mr CASEY - Any such possibilities will be explored in the immediate future, and if any further information on the subject be obtained I shall see that it is transmitted to the honorable gentleman.
