Mr DRAKEFORD - Have arrangements^ been made by the Government, or is it intended to make arrangements, as is done in connexion with State railways, to recoup the Commonwealth Railways Commissioner for the reduction of the livestock rate by 25 per cent, and other concessions, or is it intended that the Commonwealth Railways Commissioner shall bear the whole of the cost of these reductions ?

Mr McEWEN - During the term of office of my predecessor, there was a standing arrangement that the Commonwealth Railways Commissioner should be recouped for freight reductions upon the North Australia railway line. Reductions of freight on cattle on the Central Australia line will be borne by the Commonwealth Railways Commissioner.
