Mr Pollard (BALLAARAT, VICTORIA) d asked the Treasurer, upon notice -

1.   What is the total value of all exports from Australia since exports overseas first took place, to June. 1938?

2.   What is the actual value of all gold exported from Australia to date?

Mr Casey - The answers to the honorablem ember's questions are as follows : -

1.   Total exports from Australia. - 1826 to 1937-38, £A.4,949,909,000.

2.   As particulars of the value of exports of gold are not readily available in respect of earlier years, the information cannot be supplied in the form desired.

The value of the net exports of gold coin and bullion (i.e. excess of exports over imports) records of which are availablefrom 1851to1937-38 is £A682,739,000.
