Mr Makin (HINDMARSH, SOUTH AUSTRALIA) n asked the Minister for the Interior, upon notice -

1.   What are the increased numbers of men who have been engaged during the last two months on maintenance work of the permanent way of the Port Augusta-Kalgoorlie section of Commonwealth railways?

2.   Has provision been made for increased supplies of ballasting material during the last two months on this particular section ?


Mr McEwen - The answers to the honorable member's questions are as follows : -

1.   Approximately 105 on maintenance work and 130 on re-sleepering

2.   Deliveries from the quarry have not increased during the last two months.
