Mr DRAKEFORD (MARIBYRNONG, VICTORIA) - I ask the Minister for Defence whether an inquiry has been made by any competent body since the Premiers' Conference in 1936, into the defence aspect of the standardization of railway gauges in Australia ? If so, when was the inquiry held, and did it consider that the concentration of troops for resisting invasion could be accomplished much more rapidly if railway gauges were- standardized?
