Mr Lyons s. - Yesterday, the honorable member for Kalgoorlie (Mr. Green) asked me the following questions, upon notice -

1.   What is the number of shares held in the Commonwealth OilRefineries Limited by the Anglo-Persian Oil Company Limited, and what is the number of shares held by the Commonwealth Government?

2.   What was (a) the amount of money advanced by the Government at the time of the agreement, (b) the agreed value of the assets provided by the company, and (c) the cash provided by the company, if any?

3.   If plant was provided by the company, how were the main items made up, and what was the tabulated value of each item?

I am now in a position to furnish the following reply : -

1.   The number of shares held in the Commonwealth Oil Refineries Limited by the Commonwealth Government is 425,001, and by the Anglo-Persian Oil Company Limited (now Anglo-Iranian Oil Company Limited) is 424,999. 2 and 3. The initial capital of the company authorized by Parliament was £500,000, of which £250,001 was subscribed by the Government, and £249,999 by the Anglo-Persian Oil Company Limited. No plant was provided by the company in lieu of cash.

Flight of Bombing Aircraft.


Mr Drakeford d asked the Minister for

Defence, upon notice -

1.   What was the time taken by the Avro- Anson bombers in their recent flight from Darwin to Cloncurry?

2.   What was the time taken by the VickersWellesley bombers for the journey?
