Sir EARLE PAGE (Cowper) (Minister for Commerce) . - The honorable member for Forrest (Mr. Prowse) will appreciate that, until the negotiations between the governments of the United Kingdom and the United States of America have been completed, it will be impossible to give details in respect of any particular item. I can only repeat the assurances previously given that, should any change be made in the preferential duties, honorable members will be fully informed at the first opportunity, and that, as regards the fruit industry, steps are being taken to safeguard the position of Australia.
