Mr BEASLEY (WEST SYDNEY, NEW SOUTH WALES) - Will the Minister for External Affairs take the necessary steps to expedite the ratification of the Maritime Convention of 1936? I point out that the convention in some instances affects both the States and the Commonwealth. The Minister has communicated with the States, but two of them have failed to reply. Three months ago, further communications were sent to them, but, they still failed to reply.

Mr HUGHES - I shall get into touch once more with those States that have not replied, and endeavour to expedite the matter as much as possible.
