Mr HUTCHINSON (DEAKIN, VICTORIA) - Seeing that there is a degree of fear in the public mind that tho contemplated banking legislation may lead to some restriction, of. credit, can tha Treasurer give the assurance that it will not of itself have that effect?


Mr CASEY - No proposal that th« Government has in contemplation could, upon objective examination, be sufficient to cause any contraction of credit within Australia.
