Mr FENTON (Maribyrnong) (PostmasterGeneral) . - I do not intend to reply in detail to the various criticisms that have been offered during the debate because, as honorable members are aware, this is a measure for discussion in committee. I therefore hope that they will not hold me guilty of any disrespect if I reserve my remarks for the committee stages of the bill, when I shall endeavour to explain more fully the various provisions to which attention has been directed.

Question resolved in the affirmative.

Bill read a second time.

In committee :

Clauses 1 to 4 agreed to.

Clause 5 - (1.) For the purposes of this act, there shall be a commission, to be known as the Australian Broadcasting Commission, which shall be charged with the general administration of this act, subject to such directions (if any) as are from time to time given by the Minister.
