Mr LYONS - The sum of £600,000 was allocated to New South Wales to relieve unemployment in that State. The present attitude of the Government of New South Wales makes it difficult for this Government to expend that money through the channels that have been used in the past, and that problem is receiving consideration. A portion of the money will be expended on such services as water supply, sewerage and electric light, provided that they can absorb a substantial number of unemployed, are reproductive in nature, and have the approval of the council that will be constituted to deal with the matter.
