Mr HAWKER (WAKEFIELD, SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - I am not sure whether the case is one in which it has not been determined whether the soldier's death was due to, or contributed to, by war service. If that is so, all that would be necessary would be the production of evidence on that point. This would entitle the widow and children to receive certain allowances. If the case is one in which the woman was deserted by her husband there may be no evidence available as to whether his disability continued until the time of his death, and it may be difficult to prove. If the woman is a deserted wife she would have no claim; but if she is a widow she would have a claim.
