Mr LYONS - On the 9th March, the honorable member for Riverina (Mr. Nock) asked me a question, without notice, as to the cost per gallon of manufacturing petrol from the shale oil obtained at Newnes. On looking into the request of the honorable member, I find that compliance therewith would involve a departure from the accepted practice of commercial interests of regarding costs of production as confidential. In the circumstances, and having regard particularly to the fact that certain negotiations are pending in relation to Newnes, I regret that it is not possible to comply with the request.
