Mr HAWKER (WAKEFIELD, SOUTH AUSTRALIA) (Minister for Markets) - The five-day week has been in operation in the Repatriation Department for some time, in accordance with regulations which were gazetted by the late Government. The present Government is making inquiries and considering carefully what arrangement would enable the work of the several departments of the Public Service to be carried out most economically and efficiently, combined with the maximum of service to the public which finds the money to enable them to carry on.
