Mr GREGORY (SWAN, WESTERN AUSTRALIA) - Is the Minister for Customs aware that under the Canadian customs laws, if a producer of goods other than agricultural products increases the price of those goods in consequence of the imposition of any duty, the Governor in Council may cancel or reduce such a duty? In view of the grave charges which have been made recently regarding restraint of trade by certain manufacturers, acting under the shelter of high duties and embargoes, will the Minister recommend that the Commonwealth Customs Act be amended to give the Governor-General in Council the same power as is provided for in the Canadian customs laws?
