Mr FORDE asked the Prime Minister, upon notice -

1.   Is there an officer in his department known as Assistant Director of Development; if so, what are his duties?

2.   What is the name of the officer, and what salary does he receive?

3.   Is he a member of the permanent staff of the Commonwealth Public Service?

4.   Is this officer identical with the officer of the Prime Minister's Department, who, according to the press, lectured to the Constitutional Club in Melbourne, and in the course of his address severely criticized the alleged sugar bounty?

5.   Is it usual and proper for officers of the Prime Minister's Department to express themselves publicly and partially on questions which are before the Government, and, according to statements of the Prime Minister, are still sub judice?
