Mr FENTON - The answers to thehonorable member's questions are as follow : -

1.   Wireless receiving licences in force at the 31st January,1932, were: - New South Wales, 127,734; Victoria, 134,523; Queensland, 26,775; South Australia, 32,560; Western Australia, 11,046; Tasmania, 8,756 - total for Commonwealth, 341,394.

2.   The allocation of the money derived from licence foes for the year ended the 30th June, 1931, was: Australian Broadcasting Company, £186,949; Amalgamated Wireless Limited, £49,365: Commonwealth, £146,673 - total, £382,987.

3.   The Australian Broadcasting Company pays on the following basis: - On the first 250,000 licences, 2s. per licence; on the next 50,000 licences,1s.6d. per licence; and on all licences over 300,000,1s. per licence. The royalty payable by licensed broadcasting stations is at present under negotiation between the parties concerned.
