Mr GEORGE LAWSON (BRISBANE, QUEENSLAND) asked the Minister for Works, upon notice -

1.   Is it a fact that the Commonwealth Government agreed to erect Commonwealth offices in Anzac-square, Brisbane, if the State Government erected State offices on adjoining property ?

2.   As the State Government presented the land known as Anzac-square to the Commonwealth Government on the understanding that it would be built upon by tho Commonwealth, and as the State Government is now erecting a beautiful State building on adjoining land, and in view of the fact that the Commonwealth Government is at present paying large rentals for offices in several buildings in the city, will lie reconsider the whole matter with a view to the early erection by the Commonwealth of the necessary Commonwealth offices, thus carrying out a definite undertaking and giving employment to a large number of workers!
