The TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN (Hon R A Crouch (CORANGAMITE, VICTORIA) - Order ! I ask the honorable member to withdraw that remark.

Mr LATHAM - I withdraw it, and say that the statement of the honorable member for Corio is completely reckless and irresponsible, and discloses that he has no knowledge of the facts. Recent events have shown that there is no parliamentary control in relation to matters that have affected in a very important way the whole of our fiscal system. There ought to be an opportunity for Parliament to discuss, on its merits, and irrespective of the existence of a government, any prohibition of importations. I, therefore, support the amendment.
