Mr BRUCE (Flinders) (Prime Minister and Minister for External Affairs) . - I quite understand the feelings of the Leader of the Opposition, but I ask him to have some consideration for my feelings. The Government is charged with the responsibility of conducting the business of the country and it has been necessary to do what has been done to that end. Of course, the Government must assume the responsibility for the course taken. But the Leader of the Opposition is wrong in saying that during this extended sitting the House has dealt with an expenditure of over £70,000,000. The total amount involved in these Estimates is only a little over £22,000,000. '

Question resolved in the affirmative.

Resolution adopted.

In Committee of Ways and Means:

Motion (by Mr. Bruce) proposed-

That towards making good the supply "granted to His Majesty for the services of the year 1927-28 there be granted out of the consolidated revenue fund a sum not exceeding £12,581,278.
