Mr CHARLTON asked the Minister for Defence, upon notice -

1.   Is a man who deserted in 1909 from the Imperial Navy whilst in Australian waters still liable to be apprehended and punished for that offence?

2.   If so, how would he be punished, and where would he be sent to?

3.   If not, could he obtain a document to that effect; if so, from whom?
