Sir JOSEPH COOK (PARRAMATTA, NEW SOUTH WALES) (Treasurer) . - I move -

That leave be given to bring in a Bill for an Act to amend the Commonwealth Bank Act 1911-1914, and for other purposes.

Mr Ryan - Would the right honorable gentleman tell us what is provided for in the Bill?

Sir JOSEPH COOK (PARRAMATTA, NEW SOUTH WALES) (Treasurer) - It is a proposal to transfer the note-issue Department from the Treasury to the Commonwealth Bank - to institute a separate noteissue Department within the Bank, and to place the entire administration of the notes in the hands of independent Commissioners.
