Mr BURCHELL (for Mr. Atkinson) asked the Minister representing the Minister for Defence, upon notice -

1.   Is it a fact that the reduction of the capitation grant to rifle clubs from 5s. to 2s. 6d. jeopardizes the existence of those useful branches of the Defence system of the country?

2.   If so, will the Minister see that the subsidy to rifle associations be distributed, in the first place, by giving each State a lump sum of £350 to £400, and then allocating the balance on the basis of the number' of efficient riflemen in each State?
