Mr GREENE (RICHMOND, NEW SOUTH WALES) (Minister for Trade and Customs) - The answers to the honorable member's questions are as follow : -

1.   The pilot service will be taken over by the Commonwealth when the sections of the Navigation Act dealing with pilotage are proclaimed to come into operation; shipwright surveyors, a shipping inspector, and an examiner of masters and mates will be appointed when the sections of the Act relating to the functions to be exercised by these officers are also proclaimed.
