Mr LISTER (CORIO, VICTORIA) asked the PostmasterGeneral, upon notice -

1.   Whether it is a fact that there are several women, some of whom are widows and the sole support of themselves and their children, at present employed as cleaners in the General Post Office in Melbourne and elsewhere,' who are in receipt of only 27s. 6d. per week?

2.   As bonuses and increases in wages have been granted to others employed in the Department in order to, in some measure, meet the increased cost of living, will the PostmasterGeneral recommend such increase as is necessary to enable these female employees to enjoy reasonable comfort?
