Mr FENTON (Maribyrnong) . - I have an amendment to move. There appears to be a fairly unanimous opinion in the Committee that if returned soldiers desire to enter upon some other line of occupation than that of a farmer, they should be given assistanceby the Government. Should Ibe in order in moving as an amendment to the motion before the Chair that instead of a subsidy of £1 for £1 the Government should contribute £4 for each £1 invested by the returned soldiers?

The TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN.No, the honorable member would not be in order in moving such an amendment.
