Mr DEAKIN (Ballarat) (Minister of External Affairs) . - I ask the honorable member to consent to an adjournment of this debate. The figures which he has quoted from the paper which he has read - to give one illustration - do not agree with those which have been furnished to me. In fact, the two sets of figures seem to be utterly irreconcilable, and I shall be very much better able to reply to the honorable member if I am first permitted to obtain an answer to the joint communication which the late Premier of New Zealand and. myself forwarded to the mother country, in reference to the various matters with which he has been dealing. That reply I hope to receive before this question again comes on for discussion.

Debate (on motion by Mr. Deakin) adjourned.
